Nobu Hotel Los Cabos Review: Dining, Spa and Resort Experience

Sushi at sunset, a spa circuit worth rallying for, and who I would send to this corner of Mexico.

No one called out to me. No one waved a card in my face or asked where I was headed. I walked out of the Los Cabos airport, looked for the number that matched my transfer, and there was my driver, holding a sign with my name on it. I just returned from Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, and I have a new appreciation for this corner of Mexico. Between the food, the setting, the spa, and a few unexpected discoveries along the way, I came home with a much better understanding of what makes this resort special and who I would send here.

Let me take you along!

First Impressions Start at the Airport

I arrived at a remarkably calm airport. And if you have ever landed in Cancun, you know what I mean when I say that the vibe was noticeably different.

Once you leave the airport in Cancun, you enter the area where you are trying to find your transfer driver, often surrounded by people calling out to get your attention and earn your business. In Cabo, assigned numbers make it easy to know exactly where to go to find the person holding your sign. A small detail, perhaps, but a welcome start to the trip!

Our driver arrived, and I settled in for a scenic 50-minute ride to Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, located along the Pacific coast in the Diamante community.

Advisor Insight

Arrival day sets the tone for a whole trip. A calm, well-organized airport transfer means you reach the resort relaxed instead of frazzled, and it is exactly the kind of detail I pay attention to when matching clients with a destination.

A Quick Room Tour, Then Straight to Dinner

I am the kind of person who likes to unpack as soon as I arrive. So, I had to quickly record my room tour video before unpacking and heading off to meet with the Sales Manager for a tour of the property.

Then came dinner at the famous Nobu restaurant.

We were treated to some of the restaurant's signature dishes, including Black Cod with Miso, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño, New Style Sashimi, and Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, along with other delicious bites. I paired it all with a lychee martini.

Now I understand what all the fuss is about!

And the best part? Enjoying it all while watching a perfect Cabo sunset.

Dinner was also an opportunity to learn more about the Nobu story, from Chef Nobu Matsuhisa's early restaurant days in Alaska to the evolution of the global hotel brand. I had no idea about the Alaska connection!

Spending time with the people who know the property best gives us a much deeper understanding of its story, service, and personality.

This is one of the things I love about familiarization trips, or FAM trips, as we call them in the travel industry. Of course, visiting a resort is valuable on its own, but spending time with the people who know the property best gives us a much deeper understanding of its story, service, and personality. Those conversations help us match the right travelers with the right places.

Come Hungry. Seriously.

The next day, we enjoyed a Mexican cooking class for lunch, and the food theme continued throughout the trip.

Nobu Los Cabos is definitely a resort I would put on the radar for foodies. There are several dining options to explore, and food is much more than a box to check between pool time and excursions. It is a big part of the experience.

We were also given a resort credit to enjoy food and drinks during our stay. My favorite way to use it? Room service in the morning.

There is something pretty wonderful about starting the day with breakfast delivered to your room, enjoying a little quiet time, and easing into the morning before the day gets underway.

If dining is high on your list, this is a property where the food is part of the reason to go, not an afterthought. It is also a good example of why I like to see resorts in person: a brand name tells you one thing, but a few days on property tells me who will truly love it.

Pool Time, a Little Work, and a Spa Escape

The next morning, I made time for the gym, which is something I never thought I would say! I used to scoff when a resort site tour included a stop at the fitness center. Who works out on vacation? Apparently, I do now.

There was time for work each day, but also plenty of play. Pool cabana time was a highlight, complete with relaxing surroundings and, naturally, another opportunity to enjoy the food and drinks. The menu did not disappoint.

And because no resort visit would be complete without experiencing the spa, we also made time for Esencia Wellness Spa. The hydrotherapy circuit was a lovely way to unwind before my Nobu signature massage.

By the time we finished, I will admit that rallying for dinner required a little effort. But I managed. After all, when food is such a big part of the resort experience, skipping dinner was never really an option!

So, Who Should Stay at Nobu Los Cabos?

Just like that, it was time to leave.

I came away with a better understanding of Cabo as a destination and, more importantly, the travelers who would appreciate Nobu Hotel Los Cabos.

For travelers who appreciate thoughtful design, memorable dining, a beautiful Pacific Coast setting, and time to balance relaxation with a little activity, this resort deserves a closer look. It could be a wonderful fit for a couples' getaway, a food-focused escape, or a trip where the resort itself is an important part of the destination.

Nobu Los Cabos offers more than a beautiful setting. Between its signature restaurant, multiple pools, poolside cabanas, fitness facilities, and Esencia Wellness Spa, there are plenty of ways to shape your stay around the experiences you enjoy most.

One important note: the Pacific coastline is beautiful, but ocean conditions can be unpredictable, with strong currents in some areas. The resort's pools are a great alternative for swimming and relaxing by the water.
